What is the 75% Attendance Rule?

The 75% attendance rule is mandated by UGC (University Grants Commission) and enforced by most Indian universities. Here's what you need to know.

UGC Mandate

The University Grants Commission (UGC) recommends 75% attendance as the minimum for all courses.

Exam Eligibility

Students with less than 75% attendance may be debarred from appearing in the semester exams.

Condonation

Some universities allow condonation (special permission) for 65–74% attendance with valid medical reasons.

Consequences

Shortage below 65% usually leads to direct debarment, loss of marks, or re-registration requirement.
